National Park (Frisco) is a great campground even though it's all dry camping (boon docking). When we were there, chlorine levels were high & water was non-potable. Plan to use your solar, batteries & generator if you have it. Dump site is at Lighthouse Road/Cape Hatteras (on an unmarked road) with potable water (on non-sewer dump) to fill containers (hose is non-threaded).

First, the good stuff. Beautiful campground! There are some sites with tree coverage and we felt very lucky to have a nice hideaway where we pitched our tent. Showers are cold, but it is state park after all. Now, the bad. The beach. What the heck Cape Hatteras? No space at all to swim or place your blanket because of all the vehicles and folks fishing. You can’t even walk close to the water for fear of running into a line. All we need is just a little space within the area of the campground where vehicles are not allowed. Plenty of space for fishing beyond that area. So, be forewarned, if you just want to sit on the beach you will have to hike a good way towards Hatteras village where, surprise, there are no vehicles allowed near the.beach house area.
