Explore Cape Hatteras, North Carolina and the Outer Banks

If this is your first time camping along the North Carolina coast in Hatteras Island, you will be amazed at the vast expanses of undeveloped beach wilderness that lie between the island's seven village communities. With the Atlantic Ocean roaring to the east and the warm shallows of Pamlico Sound to your west, this area is beloved by anglers and surfers alike.

By far, the most popular thing to do in the Outer Banks is to lose track of time at the beach! These endless stretches of natural shorelines are a great place to relax seaside and build sandcastles with the kids. Roam the sand dunes or participate in the countless water activities available, including kite boarding, stand-up paddle boarding, scuba diving, surfing and more.

Of course, there are plenty of other exciting attractions to explore on Hatteras Island and throughout the Outer Banks, such as:

  • Climb Cape Hatteras Lighthouse.
  • Picnic at Cape Hatteras National Seashore.
  • Visit the Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum.
  • Observe wildlife at Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge.
  • Reel in a big catch in the Gulf Stream waters with some offshore charter fishing.

Bathrooms are not the cleanest. In the laundry, only 2 machines out of 6 we're working, not fixed in the five days of our visit. Grounds are a little unkempt, some long term sites don't look so good. Employees are very nice. Would be nice if pool was heated, pool is very large. Sites are close together and with over 700, I don't think I would want to stay here at capacity. The location is on the beach and all sites are a short walk.

Perfect location, except our RV spot was between the jumping pillow and the pirate ship...no need to explain I am sure. Would have given it a 5 star if we were close to the beach. If you have kids perfect RV park.

Beautiful views, friendly staff, clean rooms. The sound side had shallow sandbars, gentle waves, and lots of shells for kids to find. The ocean side is beautiful beach for miles and waves for days. On-site playground, pool, sand volleyball, and basketball. Really great place for the fam.

Love the location, its beautiful property. Location is well maintained nice and clean bathrooms, showers, and pool. People are so welcoming and helpful. Been going to this location for several years. I would have given it a 5 star, but I am not a fan of the Tent and RV combo or parking next to each other. RV take up so much space into the Tent sites and cannot enjoy the overview of the camp site- views blocked and feels so crowded next to each other. It would be nice to have a heated pool. I would still recommend this location.

Loved it. Nice campground with all the amenities. We stayed in a cabin and they are really close together but still, a nice place.
