Charleston KOA Holiday

Attractions abound in lovely Charleston with horse-drawn carriages clip-clopping along the historic harbor.

You'll know this campground is special the minute you drive through the entrance. Azaleas, oaks and loblolly pines give a signature touch to its Lowcountry charm. Nearby, the historic Magnolia Plantation and Middleton Place feature beautiful gardens. Beat the summer heat at Whirlin' Waters Adventure Waterpark (located within North Charleston Wannamaker County Park). Attractions abound in lovely Charleston, where horse-drawn carriages clip-clop along the historic harbor. Tour Fort Sumter National Monument, where the Civil War began, and the aircraft carrier USS Yorktown. Watch the skies for military/commercial planes - you might spot a Boeing 747 Dreamlifter. Bring a group - the campground has a great recreation building with a full kitchen and meeting facilities. An exciting addition is the family lodge - a fun home-away-from-home that sleeps up to eight people. Pool: March 15 - October 15. Max pull thru: 70 feet. Your host: Roger Thorpe.

The negative reviews are a bit harsh. This is a solid campground. It is not a luxury or resort campground. The hookups were good, the staff was nice and the grounds were good. We based here to explore the area and had a pleasant stay.

I don’t understand the less than positive reviews. Everyone working here was amazing. The staff working on the grounds was courteous and the girls working in the office always went out of their way to provide the best service! I would return for the service alone. Great job girls!

This is the worst KOA we have stayed in. The place is run down and trashy. Staff was friendly. Our first site was next to trailer park and our camper hit the overhang trees. Table was mildew badly. I asked to move to another site. They moved us to section D. There seems to be people that live here year around and sites are trashy. Not a typical KOA. Would not come here again.

Arrived here yesterday late afternoon to find our cabin was never cleaned. There was feces on the toilet and hair in the bathroom sink. The shower was dirty and there was chunks of food in the kitchen sink. Bed was awful, hard as a rock. Remote in bedroom for the TV did not work. I called to speak to a manager and they were not available. Was told that I could reach them the next day at 9:00 a.m. When I called I was told they were not going to be in today. The girl I did speak with was nice and said that they would only charge us for one night since we decided to leave early and not stay here for another night. For what they charge here this is unacceptable we won't be staying here again. If the place was cleaned properly before we arrived, this would have been a three star review.

It's OK. Location to downtown Charleston isn't bad. Making a left turn onto the road coming out is awful. The bathrooms have a key code, not sure if that's normal for a koa but other campgrounds don't do this. Check in was easy. They offer amenities but my party didn't really use them, basically just sleep here.
