Nice clean campground right off of the road. At 7,600 feet all sites are FCFS, no reservations. The cost is $5 per site per day use or overnight before applying an interagency pass discount. They have posted an increase request to $10 per site and with the great condition it’s in, they will likely get it. Even without the water. There are 20 sites including one site for a group. It looks like they have recently updated this campground with concrete molded picnic tables, updated fire rings, grill and tent pads all in new raised level and pea gravel areas. With the kind of investment made, the only thing missing are the bear boxes... and the water. The Ranger advised the update was over 12 years ago and it is still in great shape. I have been to campgrounds with a host that are in worse shape than here, all on the honor system. There are miles of bicycle trails close and some of the outer sites have a trail access right next to or at your site. Great place. Highly recommend.

This was a nice place for a quick overnight. It was $2.50 since we have a pass. It's surrounded by pines so getting sun for solar was difficult but the spots and bathrooms were clean. The only downside was the heavy truck traffic on the road. The drivers were using engine/compression brakes which were loud and echoed through the campground.

Quaking was truly a diamond in the rough. Be very careful as you drive to the park there are cows and mule deer roaming free and do get in the road.. We stayed in site 12. The site was level, clean just a really nice park. The park is very quiet. We paid $5 for one night. The park officials are asking for an increase in fees to $10 dollars per night.

Very quiet and peaceful for the most part, with well distanced campsites and lots of empty sites, even on a July weekend. There were a couple of family reunion/birthday parties with big groups out from Gallup (a dozen cars per site), but evenings were still quiet. No sign of restocking bathrooms from Thursday night through Sunday morning, but they stayed pretty clean, though lacking in TP by Sunday morning. Bring your own water.
