Good campground in the national park. No electricity, but they had the typical fire pit, picnic table and lantern hook. The bathrooms and showers were clean. Best yet, I had great cell phone reception with Google Fi.

The bathrooms are very clean. The whole area was well equipped with a bottle refill station and a large dishwashing sink. Campsites are secluded, there's enough trees between each site that you get some privacy. Definitely bring bug spray though, still lots of mosquitoes there in mid September. I'm not sure how it compares to the state run campground in terms of amenities. At $25/night with no entrance fee, Dunewood is cheaper if you're coming from out of state. Solid location - Beverly Shores town is right across the train tracks and the trails over there are lovely. The campsite's proximity to stores is nice for first time campers. There is a gas station, a general store/bike shop, and a small restaurant on Broadway st just outside the camp, all of which are accessible on foot/bike. The South Shore Line station at Beverly Shores is within walking distance, so one could even "backpack" in from Chicago! However the Beverly Shores station does not allow bikes so bike campers would have to get off at Dune Park and ride a couple miles on the Calumet Trail.

We stayed about 2 years ago with our 24yr. old son and his friend. We loved it so much we came back 2 years later with my mom . She loved it a lot . Took it off her bucket list at 75 yrs. old. The camp was beautiful the host at the time was wonderful to us . Will be back again only sooner . Loved being so close to the lake and dunes. Stayed 8/29/21 - 9/3/21

This campground was clean and situated very close to the dune beaches. As others have mentioned, campsites 55-67 are sites that you need to walk to from the parking lot. Serious point though, this is the loudest campsite I have ever been to. You will constantly hear trains nearby throughout the night. You will also hear road traffic up until about midnight. Did not sleep well. Only stayed one night on a Tuesday.

Great campsite, bathrooms and showers with water refilling options. Fairly quiet especially after 10pm. We called for information to double check about how to check in or out and it was very easy with the reservation system. If you have questions call the number given on your reservation, the rangers were incredibly helpful! Set up your tent or bring your rv and enjoy the beautiful trees and night sky!
