Family of 6 with a dog. Great little spot. Our 4 children ages 7 and under really enjoyed walking down by the water and throwing rocks in the lake. We even found some fossilized shells in some of the rocks. We were greeted by a beautiful sunrise over the lake as we drank our coffee. When you book it may say you will have a waterfront spot(trust me you don’t want to pull your rig down by the water). Be content with what you get. After seeing the waterfront spots they are small and would have been very difficult to get in and out of. The camp manager was very pleasant and stopped in after we got settled to make sure we had what we needed. Only downfall is the showers do not have doors but curtains which made showering the 2 year old a little difficult.

Mostly permanent working folks. Bathroom and shower area (female) were disasters. Roads in and out are very rough..need lots of work. Someone is really "missing the boat" here because there is limitless potential. Lackadaisical, disorganized managers. No response after 4:30 p.m. Our assigned site had been changed upon arrival..new site was unacceptable..too short for our rig, rather hilly, in-ground water hook-up was a pool. It is closest campground to the Ark but there are seemingly much nicer ones just a short distance both north and south.

First, let me say, I want to be as fair as I can. This campground is very old, but has potential. It is owned by a young couple, who I'm sure took a huge hit in 2020 because of COVID. I chose this campground because it was one of very few in close proximity to The Ark Encounter that had full hook-ups. I made our reservation a couple of months before our stay. I was given the option to chose the site we wanted. There was never anything that popped up regarding a "lock in" fee to assure we would get the site I reserved. When we arrived, we had been bounced around within the very few full hook-up sites they have available to where we ended up on the far side of the office in a site that had an electrical pole with wires drooping over the site. It looked like an area that was for utility parking, not a camp site. Needless to say, we were not at all happy. We refused to park there. They did eventually put us in the area on the other side of the office where our reservation was originally made. This was leading up to Labor Day weekend, and they made it sound like they had larger rigs than ours coming in, and they needed those five sites for those larger units. We stayed on a Wed. and Thur., checking out Fri. morning. One of those larger sites was never used the entire time! The owner was quite rude with us, as and walked away into the office, and didn't come back out. His wife, who was carrying a relatively new born child, was very apologetic, and explained her husband had been so busy all day he hadn't had a break, and was hungry and a bit cranky. I'm sorry for him being in the position of having to do all the maintenance, run the office, etc., but in a service industry, one has to put his/her best foot forward in order to build a successful business, no matter uncomfortable things can get. This is a good campground for folks who just like to sit back with a campfire and relax. If you are traveling with children, be ware, there is nothing for them to do. The amenities--bathrooms, showers and laundry--are very old and run down. They do their best to keep them clean and tidy. There are some cob webs and those long legged spiders that are often found in corners creating the cob webs. Not everything works; one of the two sinks in the women's bathroom is taped off. We did not use the laundry facility, so I cannot comment on that. We did not see anything that looked like a store in the office building, but there is a gas station convenience store near by. The road leading to the campground is very narrow without a shoulder, and the edges in some areas is breaking away. A larger rig would not be able to safely get off to the side when meeting another vehicle. Of course, the campground has no control over that issue. Once we got set up on our site. I went online to go through the process of making a reservation to find out about this "lock in" fee the owner mentioned. I think he fixed the web site after I told him there was no such thing mentioned when I made our reservation, because it was there when I was finally able to login. I definitely would have paid the extra $10 when making the reservation, and did offer to pay it when we checked in. It is definitely something you will want to do, if you want a full hook-up site, as there are very few to start with, and their computer program will automatically shuffle reservations among the full hook-up sites according to the size of your unit, regardless of the fact the reservation process gives you the option to choose your site.

Owners are really nice and will do anything that they can to make your stay a memorable one. This is an older park that the new owners are upgrading as they can. Covid hit them hard as you can imagine. I would stay here again if given the chance. We are from WA and this is a long way from home. The water is SWEET. It tastes great. All utilities worked as they should. We stayed four nights and went to the Creation Museum one day and to the Arc Encounter the next. Very nice.
