This place was stunning! There were tons of small shops and lots of tall hotels! The dessert that was accustomed was outstanding! The location is best described as magnificent! The beaches just fills you with joy and excitement. The service at all places is great! The waiters, staff, and receptionists were very friendly and kind! Overall, Jekyll Island is terrific and definitely worth visiting!

We were in town for the annual Turtle Crawl 5k event and stayed at the Campground. The staff were attentive and efficient with the check in process and the escort to our site plus very hospitable in the store full of your camping and souvenir needs. Our site was nice and level and hookups were in good order. Campground was relatively peaceful and quiet at night. The location was a little bit away from the busier parts of town but not too far (10 minute golf cart ride). Across from the Campground are walking/biking trails as well as a park with a boat ramp, fishing pier and horseback riding. Things to note from our trip is the construction for the new bathhouse is ongoing, the sites are nestled under a nice canopy which means lots of trees that you need to be able to maneuver around/in between when pulling or backing your camper/RV into and a few bugs so bring your spray or get some in the store. Nothing to really complain about. We’ll be back for sure.

Don’t believe the pictures! We were packed in like sardines. The sewer hole for the rv next to us was about 3 feet from OUR fire ring….gross.Also, our first night the same Rv’s pop out was so close to our fire ring we were afraid to light a fire!! They were gone the next morning and the next Rv that came was parked better. We had a fire that night and it was a lovely evening. The next morning we woke up to a small dog barking for an hour and a half from the Rv behind us and one over. People were there and did nothing!!!Then the people behind us said that we couldn’t have a fire again because we smoked up the whole campground, they couldn’t breath, and one of their daughters had asthma…really. The parents brought their kids in April to a campground with fire rings, trees budding out, pollen falling. We had three seasoned logs on our fire….fires create smoke. Glad we were leaving the next day. We tent camped up to a year and a half ago and then bought an airstream. We have done lots of camping and only one other time (Zion NP) have we encountered people as rude. I’m 74, and love the great outdoors…

I would recommend calling the campground and doing research on camping in general before you visit. This campground has and is under construction. They are doing major improvements to the area, but it takes TIME to do. The reviews on here citing issues with the bath houses may not be correct. There was at least one new bath house a couple of years ago. There were only ever two bath houses that we know of. So one has been replaced as of a couple of years ago. This is a traditional or old-school type campground. It is a campground NOT a hotel. When you camp you are outdoors-there are and will be bugs. You are camping in Georgia-a sub-tropical climate. There are and will be bugs. Know when and where to go to avoid the bugs. And know the basics of camping to avoid attracting the bugs. If you are going camping educate yourself properly before going camping and then blaming the campground for your less than satisfactory experience with bugs and ongoing construction. This is a great place to camp if you know how to actually camp.

Amazing campground for tent camping with flat big sites in the back of the campground that are private and very spacious! Lots of biking and a welcoming community. Bathrooms are new and one is being built and kept very clean. Walking distance to driftwood beach and family friendly. Our site was J8 across from the bird sanctuary which was a very loud and lovely sound to hear quite early in the morning. Thoroughly enjoyed our camping experience hear and would suggest as a cheap alternative to staying on the island. Very quite, peaceful, and whimsical!!

Best thing about it is proximity to beach. Good bath house, nice people. Worst thing, proximity to other campers. You are right on each other. The general store was cute, but I expected more, like any luncheon items. They had nothing.. mostly a souvenir type shop.

Beautiful beaches, really like driftwood beach cool to see God's beauty and power. Loved the bicycle trails. Looking forward to going back and ride the other side of the island.

Drove through and canceled our Spring reservation. If you like camping in a big parking lot (albeit with trees and dirt), this is your place. If you like camping far enough away from your neighbors that you can't hear them snore, look elsewhere. Florida tight spaces. Not our style. BTW they charge $8 just to get on the island.

I love visiting here! My parents set a camper for several weeks and I had down for a day or two. Nice walks, beautiful Spanish moss from the trees covering the camping area, driftwood Beach, large container ships passing by...a very relaxing place! Super clean facilities!!!

This is our second visit, this time for ten days. The campground and island as a whole are very easy-going and slow-paced. The campground is quiet, people are friendly. You can go for walks in any direction. Our favorite is to head north to the fishing pier, then to the east along the driftwood beach trail. Check tides - high tide walks may be interesting! The return can be from the driftwood beach along the road, along Clam Creek, or through woodland trails past Horton Pond. You can bike ride the entire island. The beaches are great for walks - we also like the beach at the south end of the island. Stock up on groceries before you arrive.
