Munising / Pictured Rocks KOA Journey

Welcome to the Munising / Pictured Rocks KOA!

The wild beauty of Michigan's Upper Peninsula and Lake Superior will lure you to this new KOA, located near the bayfront community of Munising. After a day of adventure, just relax at the campground in front of your campfire or take a dip in the heated pool. Choose from full-hookup RV Sites, Tent Sites and Cabins. Munising serves as the western gateway to Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, where multihued cliffs and immense sand dunes rise up from Superior's clear waters. Or you can set off on a hike to enjoy the waterfalls, lighthouses and beaches. A quick ferry takes passengers to Grand Island, a national recreation area best explored by tram, bicycle or boat tour. Marquette, the Upper Peninsula's largest city and home to Northern Michigan University, is less than an hour's drive west. Pool: June 24 - September 5.  Max pull thru: 90 feet.

I stayed in a tent and had an overall good experience in a somewhat wooded area on the edge of the property. The facilities were clean and convenient

We had a booking discrepancy coming back from the UP. Where we were in the UP put us too far from Pictured Rocks for a day trip. So it seemed like a miracle to get to stop here for a couple nights on our way south. The campground was beautiful. The sites were set up to allow maximum privacy. We weren't here very long, but we enjoyed it. Night time was dark and quiet and it was just where you want to be to experience everything the area has to offer.

A campground off of a main road outside of town. We stayed on a tent site on the edge of the property, right next to new development being built. The camp site had just enough space for a car, picnic bench, tent and campfire. Anything more than 4 people would be quite cramped. Because of the development there was construction noise in the morning, one day as early as 6am. The website stated that the tent sites included a sand pad however we didn’t encounter one at our site. We could also hear cars on the main road at night. The washroom facilities were adequate and were cleaned daily from noon to 2pm. There was hot water for both the showers and sink. There was also a laundry room that worked fine; they were $2 each for washer and dryer. The staff who checked us in was extremely friendly and helpful, but the service and hospitality was not consistent across all staff. It’s not a terrible option if you don’t have many choices but just be aware that it will be noisy.

Great KOA for fall colors. We just missed having access to the pool but nice little hikes and super close to the falls, pictured rocks and everything else we needed. Will visit again. Staff were awesome and welcoming!

This place is awesome! We didn't camp here but stayed at the hotel next door owned by the same individual. Because the pool was down in the hotel the owner said we could use the outdoor pool at the campgrounds. I think it was better this way. Beautiful weather and lots of kids for my little ones to play with.
