We were looking forward to visiting this park. I have to say the person on the gate was so polite and so helpful a very pleasant surprise as you rarely get that in south Florida where we live. He also gave us a few useful hints including telling us the entry receipt would give us free entry into a close by State Park called Huntington Beach State Park if went the same day. The parks are open until 10pm so very doable in a day. There are so many small parking lots to give you a different location to visit within the park. There is a pier which is advertised as “it’s always free to walk on our pier”, but of course the entry charge to the park of $8 per adult, without any reduction for seniors or locals etc, means you are paying really. Be aware pets are not allowed on the pier and you have to go through the gift shop to enter so you will be checked. We also saw a pod of Dolphin swim by the pier and no matter how often you see that that it is still a sight that warms your heart. The camp ground offered lots of shade and is very close to the beach but does not offer beach views as far as we could tell. The beach is very clean with fine white sand and is great to walk on as it has a very firm base near the waterline. We went in March so it was pretty quiet. There are walking trails through the trees which are not over taxing, but be prepared to appear from your trail in a different spot to your car. This didn’t bother us but it will mean you have to navigate your way back to your car. All part of the fun for us and it gave another opportunity to investigate this park and continue to enjoy a very relaxing time in the cold but on a bright sunny blue sky day.

Beautiful, clean park with pier, gift shop and boardwalk for exercise, bird watching and taking in nature's beauty. Ocean access for relaxing on the beach. We packed a lunch and enjoyed the picnic tables in a park like setting. Great area for RV camping. We like to just come on a nice day, walk and enjoy the beach with bathroom access.

My family and I were looking for a inexpensive place to stay over spring break. We staid at a tent site at the park. The park has several bathroom facilities that are nearby - some old and some new. It is about a 1/8 mile walk to the beach. There is a fishing pier nearby that sells day permits and bait. The park is a bargain for the price and is convenient to the other Myrtle Beach areas. It is definitely a bargain for the price, but reserve early like most state parks, since they fill up weeks to months in advance. It is very laid back in March when we visited. Park has tent and camper spots. We got a camper spot for electricity.

A great state park. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The park is well kept. My wife and I camped in site 001 for president’s day weekend. We liked how there is plenty of tree coverage but a short walk and you’re on the beach. The facilities are nice and clean. While there were many visitors and campers it didn’t feel crowded at all. It’s away from all the hustle and bustle of the main strip but it’s only a short drive if you want to visit all that. The Myrtle airport is literally right next to the park so there are the planes coming and going but it’s not that bad and much of the time we didn’t even notice them. If you can, visit the Crazy Mason Milkshake Bar. There are 2 of them at Myrtle but one is only a few minutes from the park. Some horse owners were there and you could ride the horses on the beach, for a few we assume, we didn’t ride them. Not sure if they’re there everyday or only certain times. They showed up in the morning. Overall a great experience and we would definitely visit again.

Locals beach. I would recommend getting a season pass if you plan on going there in a regular occasion. Beach front property with plenty of parking that runs parallel with the ocean. Also short hiking/ biking trails that run though wooded area as well as along the beach. There are camp grounds for native, electric and water or cabins. I would recommend getting reservations in advance. There is also a fishing pier where you can buy a pass to fish. There is a convenient store over in the camp ground and a gift shop before the pier. The park has plenty of bathroom as well as changing rooms. Also if you live in the market Commons area there is a path for golf carts to go there. During peak season I would recommend getting there before noon. It has gotten busier in the 7 years of going there. There is Huntington State park also which you pass will also work.
