My family has been coming to palmetto shores for 6 years now. I am very happy with the new upgrades and such BUT I am sad to say we will NOT be back. We had reservations at the beginning of the year (as we do every year) got into our cabin last weekend and it was great. Unfortunately my daughter became VERY sick and I had to leave and take her to the hospital. 104.2 fever. I called the campground office to let them know and advise them that my daughter had come down with the Flu and for the safety and well-being of other campers and kids we would pack up and leave. I asked for a refund OR a night credit since we had already paid in full. I was told no refunds or credits would be given since it was in the policy. Which I understand about rules and policies, however I do believe that I did the right thing in keeping the staff and other campers safe. I guess I should have stayed and got my money worth and gotten everyone else sick! Sad that the new owners value money over health and safety.

The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because it wasn’t noted in the description that it was a handicap unit and there was not a grill! I’m pretty sure the description stated grills at all sites and cabins, so we brought food to cook out and ended up having to cook it in the oven!! The cabin we ended up getting was the handicap cabin and we weren’t aware of that prior to booking. I think it should be noted in the reservations that this is a “wheelchair accessible” unit!! Everything was fine with the unit except my fiancé is 6’3 and everything is wheelchair accessible, Including the sink and the mirror. (He literally bent over double to brush his teeth 😛) He took it with a grain of salt and we made the best of it!! Everything else was exceptional as usual!!

Took my wife and daughter here for spring break. 1st time ever. LOVED IT!!!!! Loved it so much tried to extend our stay, but they were booked solid. They have an arcade, lots of outdoor games, park with all kinds of stuff for the kids. We will for sure come back. But be more prepared than we were this time. Highly recommended. If I could rate 100 stars, I would.

You can tell the new owners are working hard to better the campground - the arcade room and outdoor games were great for our kids. They were disappointed that the snack shop and pools were still closed for renovation, but it looks like they will be open soon. The bathhouses definitely need renovation and a little more security. A flimsy barely-locked bathroom stall door between the shower and the outside world didn't feel the safest. Easy boat storage and easy launching of the boat to fish on Lake Marion. It was difficult to get our camper level on our not-very-level site (53) but otherwise things were fine. There was no cable hookups. Kids liked having their bikes but their skateboard and scooter were unusable as all the roads are gravel. If you're looking for a campground with planned activities for kids/entertainment, this is not the one. If you're looking for a quiet, easygoing fishing-based campground, this is the place for you. Employees were available when needed and always friendly.

Spent a week here and we had an awesome time! Great yard games and arcade room. Rented one of their golf carts for a day. Enjoyed catching catfish from their dock on Lake Marion. There are 2 bath houses, one has washers/dryers. Owners are very responsive and personable. They have been owners for about a year and have made the campground really nice. Hope to get back there in the future.
