With easy I-77 Exit 45 access on and off the interstate-we invite you to settle in and enjoy it for a while.

North Carolina just might be the prettiest state in the Union, and the Statesville/I-77 KOA - with easy access on and off the interstate - invites you to settle in and enjoy it for a while. Explore the verdant Blue Ridge Mountains that roll off to the west. Take to the waters of nearby Lake Norman for a little boating and fishing or play a round of golf at lush area courses. Thrill the kids with a day at Carowinds theme park (about an hour away). Explore Old Salem Moravian Village. Ready to shop? North Carolina is famous for its furniture outlets. Time your visit for race day at Charlotte Motor Speedway or the National Hot Air Balloon Rally. Then recharge at KOA, where camping is easy, thanks to level sites, air-conditioned Camping Cabins, a fenced pet area (with shelter) for large and small dogs as well as a playground and a game room to keep the kids entertained. Pool: Memorial Weekend - Labor Day Weekend. Max pull thru: 65 feet.

SORRY, NO PETS ALLOWED IN/AT THE CABINS and NO FIRES permitted directly on the ground (per Fire Marshal), but there are above ground grills on tent sites.

We stayed here 6 nights. While it offers all you really need for a place to stay, that's really all they offer. Nothing really to do for the kids as the playground was MIA, and the pool was closed (too early in the year). The grounds were well kept, site was fairly level, the water spigot had a small leak on our site (#2). The folks in the office were nice, took us right to our site when we checked in. We were in town to visit family so we really didn't spend much time at the campground.

Stayed in February 2022 Park was nice, friendly staff. Escorted us to the site. Site was just long enough for our 40' Super C MH plus Jeep toad. Would stay again for a one night pass through. One consideration, the roads are narrow and tight, maneuverable, but tight We camped at Statesville / I-77 KOA Journey in a Motorhome. Gravel Pull Through Site #D2

Not many amenities. Small park. Good for layovers. Big rig challenged

KOA Statesville journey North Carolina, is the best KOA we’ve stayed at traveling from California with Statesville as our destination. Make sure you get your reservations early, they book up every night. All the staff from check-in to parking are exemplary. With grass at every site and being dog friendly. They have several large grassy areas as well as a large and small dog park. My wife and I could not recommend this KOA enough. With gravel parking pull through sites, there’s plenty a room for your tow vehicle. Thank you Staff very much. Bruce and Linda Akers

The Good Stuff: Good location, very convenient to I-77. The staff were friendly and accommodating. There are beautiful open fields backed by trees surrounding the campground, and trees interspersed throughout. This KOA has the largest dog park of any campground I've ever stayed in. The large, fenced in dog play area includes a smaller, separate section for small dogs, and has several shaded picnic tables for the humans. In addition, there is a large, mowed field for walks. For the human kiddos, there's a small playground (with caveats, see below*), a sparkling clean pool, and decent game room. The Bad Stuff: Definitely the most run down KOA I've ever stayed in. *The playground consists of 2 swings plus a baby swing, a small sandbox (bring your own sand toys) and a small, deteriorating jungle gym. The pool is sparkling clean, but small. The bathrooms were outdated back in the 70s (but were clean). Faucets in the ladies room only stay on while you hold the handle - not great if you need to wash your face 2x daily to prevent acne breakouts. There is quite a bit of traffic noise from the highway though. Not a problem if you're in an RV or travel trailer, but I would definitely not recommend camping here in a tent. Most of the campground is lacking the gorgeous landscaping of other KOAs, however, the mowed open fields and trees around the campground are still beautiful.
