White River Prospector is a family-owned business located in Dillon, Colorado. We specialize in prospecting for gold, silver, and other precious metals in the White River and surrounding areas. We offer a variety of services, including gold panning, sluicing, dredging, and metal detecting. We also provide educational classes and guided tours to help you learn the basics of prospecting. We went in October and had a great stay. The toilets were clean and the hosts were very nice. The site was great & had lots of flat space for a tent. Was nice to walk to the water (although a bit steep to get down to it)

Not anywhere close to Lake. Good trees & sites spread pretty well. Not incredibly busy. Stars were great! No hook ups.

We had a great time at Prospector! The Camp host was just great - super friendly and helpful. The campground is nice, very clean, and very well maintained. The chipmunks are cute albeit a bit too friendly. Plenty of room between you and your neighbors. Fresh water available on every loop. Trash cans a plenty. Firewood for purchase on site. Everything you need. This sounds funny but the standout is that the vault bathrooms were INCREDIBLY clean. So much cleaner than any other parks vault toilet I've ever had to use. There is very little shade as all the trees are quite short - normal for this geography though. If you're hoping for a Lake view, you won't find it on loop C... I'm not sure if any of the loops truly had a lake view.

Prospector CG is a mix of highs and lows. For example, it has amazing views of the reservoir and views of several 14,000 foot peaks which combines to be absolutely breathtaking. It’s usually nice and quiet but there are no rangers out regularly so the occasional drunk howling at the moon will not be reminded to keep it down. But the most bizarre thing is their stance on conserving water. They are literally directly adjacent to a 320 million cubic meter reservoir and for some reason feel the need to conserve water. They literally have a water spigot installed and ready to use except it has a padlock. Very strange. We’re on a long term trip so we planned on filling water at this particular location so it was frustrating when we got the email a week prior to our stay that they would not allow RV filling. I would give this place a 5 despite the howling man if it weren’t for the water. The water thing is just silly and frustrating so it’s a 3.

We stayed here frequently over the summer. Its a little outside of town and there are pit toilets,fire rings, and picnic tables here. It was very peaceful and relaxing and some of the best memories of this summer were made here.
